An Aerial escape on the Fleurieu Peninsula

Imagine taking in the beauty of the Fleurieu Peninsula from the skies – a birds eye view of our stunning coastline and the incredible colours and textures of the land.

Here are some of the top aerial adventures in the region… including the scenic and relaxed, to the adrenaline spiking!

The view from a helicopter

From McLaren Vale to Strathalbyn, there’s a little something for everyone if it’s a helicopter tour that you’re after!

Helivista Helicopter is based in McLaren Vale and offers scenic flight tours as well as lunch and winery packages, ranging from 30 minutes to an hour scenic flight, with wine tasting at three wineries. There’s nothing like celebrating a special occasion in style!

South Coast Helicopters offer scenic flights across the Fleurieu, conveniently based in Strathalbyn less than an hour’s drive from Adelaide. Their range of tours cover tree studed landscape to the rugged coastline. – they also have a scenic flight that includes a winery stop!

The view from a biplane

Do you know what a biplane looks like?

Based in Aldinga, Adelaide Biplanes have some of the coolest planes going around! With private charters, day trips by air and scenic flights, take in the beauty of the jaw-dropping coastline.

Take the Sea & Vines tour to cover just about every inch of the Fleurieu Peninsula. The Environmental Tour is pretty cool too! Explore the Myponga Reservoir, and maybe even catch a glimpse of Southern Right Whale’s as they move into our southern waters give birth from May to October.

The view from a gyrocopter

If you’d rather fly yourself, why not take a gyrocopter lesson from Goolwa?

(A gyrocopter “looks like a helicopter, flies like a plane”)

Fleurieu Gyroplanes Flying School opened in 2012 and offers both student training and experience or trial flights for members of the public.

Even guests get a go at flying – you don’t need experience to take control of the gyroplane in flight!

That’s definitely worth checking out.

The view on a winery transfer

Glamorous is the word you’re looking for – flying to a winery for a tasting as if you were famous!

D’Arenberg offer multiple options for an aerial adventure, one with a Helicopter Tour and the other with a Scenic Flight paired with a Blending & d’Arry’s Degustation experience (eight courses, anyone?).

Fly and stay with Serafino or flight and lunch with Ekhidna Wines, Lakebreeze Wines and Maxwell Wines.

There are many wineries across the region that have the perfect place to land. Including the "out of left field" MollyDooker WinesBeresford Estate (for the must do Shiraz and Chocolate tasting) and the soulful Shottesbrooke Vineyards. Although not a winery, the Victory Hotel can also arrange a helicopter fly in for your tasty meal or special occasion.

And don’t forget the previously mentioned Helivista tours for multiple stops in one go!

The view from outside  a plane

For the more daring, there’s also the view from above – but from outside the plane.

You can skydive at multiple locations around the peninsula, including over Basham Beach out of Goolwa Airport and Skydive the Southern Vines in McLaren Vale.

This is a spectacular way to take in our amazing landscape, but it’s for the brave!
