Fleurieu Awesome Foursome Weekend

Are you one of those people with an adventurous heart? Do you crave adrenaline experiences, or love to get active on your weekends?

If so, the Fleurieu Peninsula has you covered! After all, you don’t have to travel far from Adelaide to get all the action-packed adventure you can ask for, from skydiving and surfing to rock climbing and quad biking. Perhaps you’ll even do all four, which makes for a pretty adventurous weekend.

Check out our recommendations below for all your adrenaline-junkie needs.

skydiving

If you dream of throwing yourself out of an aeroplane (with a parachute of course), the Fleurieu has multiple options for you, including Australia’s only skydiving adventure that allows you to land in a vineyard!

Skydive the Southern Vines will have you gliding over the coast and vines of the Fleurieu, landing you at Leconfield Wines in McLaren Vale where you can enjoy a tasting plate and glass of wine.

It’s really two experiences in one – and your friends and family won’t mind waiting for you while you jump.

Similarly, Coastal Skydive Adelaide offer you multiple beach landings at the stunning Aldinga, Middleton Beach and Semaphore.

Their Turbine Aircraft also goes to 15,000 feet, which is the highest skydiving plane in South Australia – perfect for taking in those stunning coastal views.

SA Sky Diving also offer a beach landing at Basham Beach near Goolwa, complete with soft sand and potential whale sightings in the winter.

Taking off from the Goolwa Airport, enjoy that freefall adrenaline rush as you take in the south coast.

rock climbing

For those of you who aren’t quite the jumping-out-a-plane adrenaline junkie, rock climbing, abseiling or high ropes are a great choice.

Earth Adventure offer a full day experience with their ‘Fleurieu Eco Adventure’ tour, where guests can experience a high ropes adventure coupled with a wildlife walk and a winery visit in the McLaren Vale.

This is a nine-hour tour with return transport from Adelaide, morning and afternoon tea as well as an organic winery tour and gourmet picnic lunch included – delicious.

Or perhaps try their Rock Climb and Abseil in Onkaparinga Gorge. You'll be rewarded with epic views!

The Off the Bluff experience from Surf & Sun will take you abseiling off Rosetta Head (also known as the Bluff), enjoying views of the nearby Petrel Cove and West Island as you descend 97m.

This can be packaged up with their surfing lessons, and you might be lucky enough to spot whales from your perch when in season.

Taking one hour and fifteen minutes, this tour lets you navigate your way around 400 acres of farmland with a tour guide to show you all the best views of the Southern Ocean, Waitpinga Beach and the Waitpinga River.

Traverse sandy tracks, rugged creek crossings, bush trails and rolling hills while you get your adrenaline fill.

surfing

Surfing gives your one of those ultimate rushes that people rave about (did you ever watch Point Break?) and a great activity for just about any age.

Not only will it get your heart pumping and get you moving, but it’s so much fun!

You can take surf lessons at Moana, Goolwa and Middleton with Surf & Sun, as well as Surf Culture Australia (they also have a location at South Port).

Whether it’s a beginners course or something more advanced, the Fleurieu has the perfect waves to seek that ocean adrenaline rush with safe and helpful instructors.

Hang ten, dude.
