faces of the fleurieu:

with bernadette stack & trevor de groot. owners of de groot coffee co in port elliot.

Meet Trevor De Groot & Bernadette Stack. The duo behind De Groot Coffee Co.

Coffee, and the love of what it does to people, and how it can create a community is what motivates Trevor and Bernadette. It's a big part of why the pair decided to relocate to the beautiful small coastal town of Port Elliot.

After meeting their now landlord at the Victor Harbor Farmers Market, Trevor and Bernadette fell in love with the village of warehouses in the back blocks of Port Elliot. They now so wonderfully call Factory 9 home.

We caught up with them to chat about their love for the Fleurieu Peninsula and their go-to spots in this beautiful region. Why not let them guide you on your next adventure!

HI TREVOR & BERN, THANKS SO MUCH FOR CHATTING WITH US. WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE WHAT YOU BOTH BRING TO OUR REGION. CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHY YOU LOVE YOUR CORNER OF THE FLEURIEU PENINSULA?

The stunning landscape which inspires a healthy lifestyle. Connection with community. Clean air!

HOW DOES THE FLEURIEU PENINSULA INSPIRE YOU & DE GROOT COFFEE CO?

The Fleurieu has a magical way of attracting bespoke artisan producers. We are continually inspired by our fellow makers & producers and the support this community gives to each other.

WHERE ARE YOUR FAVOURITE GO-TO DINNER SPOTS IN THE REGION? CASUAL, AND A LITTLE DRESSIER.

It’s pretty much casual for us! Our fave casual is Harborganics Pizza at Factory 9 - the best Napoli pizza this side of the Fleurieu. We love The Little Rickshaw in Aldinga and the new Thai Days restaurant in Goolwa. Nino’s in Victor Harbor is a regular walk to for us.

The perfect dinner location: The Little Rickshaw, located in Aldinga.

OUTSIDE OF DE GROOT’S, WHERE IN THE REGION IS YOUR FAVOURITE COFFEE NOOK?

As we live in Victor Harbor our walk to is Qahwa Coffee Roasters, we love the simplicity of their cafe. Pipi’s in Middleton is our favourite brunch spot.

WHERE'S YOUR TOP PICK FOR AN AFTERNOON TIPPLE?

The Joinery at Factory 9Charlotte Dalton Wines & Cooke Brothers Wines have set up the best cellar door which is open Friday through Monday (and other days if you manage to catch them there). Their delicious wine available by the glass and they also serve a mean Negroni and a shot or two of the best Mescal we’ve ever tasted!

Enjoy an afternoon tipple here at The Joinery at Factory 9, home to Charlotte Dalton Wines & Cooke Brothers Wines.

WE'RE A VERY LUCKY BUNCH ON THE FLEURIEU. IS THERE A HIDDEN GEM IN THE FLEURIEU REGION THAT EVERY VISITOR SHOULD EXPERIENCE?

Visitors to the region are still discovering Factory 9! We have recently visited Boho Farm Cellar Door in Mt Jagged  - good times & good wines!

WHAT ARE THE TOP THREE ESSENTIALS EVERY VISITOR TO THE FLEURIEU PENINSULA NEEDS IN THEIR ITINERARY?

Well to be completely selfish visit us for a coffee, Harborganics for pizza & The Joinery for a tipple!
