The long weekend is just around the corner. If you thought it was a time to just hang at home and relax and watch the football.Think again.
There is so much happening around the Fleurieu Peninsula, and being only 45 minutes from Adelaide we thought we would provide you with a few ideas to get you out and about.
You’ve just knocked off work on Friday and your looking to unwind with a nice drink and a delicious meal whilst watching the sunset. The Victory Hotel at Sellicks Beach has one of the most stunning views over the ocean and they have a great local wine and beer selection, as well as a range of delicious food options on the menu.
If you’re coming from the other end of town and driving down through the Adelaide Hills, try popping into Strathalbyn. A restaurant by the name of Olfactory Inn has been getting rave reviews from many of Australia’s top foodies, and Simon and Lauren will take good care of you with their locally sourced ingredients and ever changing menu.
Starting from 7:30am, The Hurley Winter Classic is South Australia's premier surfing event. If you get up bright and early and head out to Waitpinga or Parsons Beach within the stunning the Newland Head Conservation Park for your chance to watch some of South Australia’s best surfers battle it out in the waves for the win.
From there, you might be a little bit peckish and looking for a delicious coffee. Depending on the weather, you can either soak up the sun on the front deck or squeeze in next to the wood fire at the Anchorage cafe. They has just started using locally roasted De Groot Coffee, and their scones are well worth indulging in.
By now, Saturday afternoon has come around and the whales will be frolicking around. The best viewing spot range along the stretch from Port Elliot to Middleton, and the walking trail from Pt Elliot to Middleton is a beautiful way to explore the coastline and spot the migrating Humpback whales.

The 25th Anniversary of Sea and Vines in McLaren Vale is on all weekend and is the great way to spend your Sunday. With plenty happening throughout many of Mclaren Vale's cellar doors, it’s a great way to experience and taste your way though one of the best wine regions in Australia.
Monday morning may be slower than anticipated. So sleep in, grab a coffee and a bite to eat at one of the Fleurieu Peninsula's amazing eateries and just enjoy our beautiful region.
