(Kaurna name: Willangga)
47 kilometres from Adelaide
Willunga was established just three years after the settlement of South Australia, and features historic buildings dating back to the 1840s as a reminder of its rich history.
This small town attracts many in the region to its popular Willunga Farmers Market held each Saturday morning, and the Quarry Market held on the second Saturday of every month. Willunga offers a delightful paddock-to-plate experience, where you can visit the Wildhand Farm shop for fresh sourdough and native flowers, or book unique experiences like a Highland Cow Experience or a Native Flower Workshop.
Willunga is at its best and busiest during the global Tour Down Under bicycle race in January, as well as in the wintertime when the almond trees blossom into spectacular colours and the annual Willunga Almond Blossom Festival is held.
Wander along the main street at any time of year to find an array of galleries, cafes and antique stores. After a day of exploring, tuck into a meal at one of the town’s three popular pubs, or snag a seat in award-winning restaurant Muni, which offers a set tasting menu featuring exquisite local produce.
