VICTOR HARBOR

(Ramindjeri name: Wirramulla)

83 kilometres from Adelaide

Feel it calling. Nestled on the wide, sandy arc of Encounter Bay, Victor Harbor has been the summer holiday choice for generations of South Australians. With sun, surf, sand, stunning views, outstanding early colonial architecture, good pubs, cafés, and restaurants, it's easy to understand why.

Visit in the school holidays, and you’ll find the Victor Harbor foreshore full of family activities – including mini-golf, show rides, arcade games and ice creams, and hot cinnamon donuts for sale.

The foreshore is also the gateway to Granite Island, with a recently renovated causeway taking you across the sparkling ocean. Travel over by foot or by the Victor Harbor Horse Tram and marvel at the island’s unique rock formations, marine life, and protected Little Penguin population.

On the western side of Victor Harbor, you’ll find incredible 360-degree views from Rosetta Head. Dubbed ‘The Bluff’, it’s hard to miss this imposing hill along the scenic Heysen Trail!

Between May and September, Southern Right Whales frequently visit the waters around Victor Harbor and Encounter Bay.
